چکیده

Test measurements on the silicon pixel detector for the beam trajectory monitor at the free electron laser of the TESLA test facility are presented. To determine the electronic noise of detector and read-out and to calibrate the signal amplitude of different pixels the 6 keV photons of the manganese Kα/Kβ line are used. Two different methods determine the spatial accuracy of the detector: In one setup a laser beam is focused to a straight line and moved across the pixel structure. In the other the detector is scanned using a low-intensity electron beam of an electron microscope. Both methods show that the symmetry axis of the detector defines a straight line within 0.4 μm. The sensitivity of the detector to low energy X-rays is measured using a vacuum ultraviolet beam at the synchrotron light source HASYLAB. Additionally, the electron microscope is used to study the radiation hardness of the detector.

Cavity-type Beam Position Monitors for the SASE FEL at the TESLA Test Facility

Cavity-type beam position monitors were developed to measure the beam alignment at the undulator section of DESY’s TESLA Test Facility (TTF). This paper describes some theoretical aspects and the experimental setup. The results of some in-beam measurements at the TTF are presented and pros and cons of the monitor concept are discussed.

Optimization of Beam Injection into the First Accelerating Module at Ttf with Cavity Dipole Mode Signals

The TESLA Test Facility (TTF) is a user facility for intense VUV-FEL light. The facility is densely equipped with diagnostics, essential in obtaining the necessary beam parameters, in particular the low emittance. However there is no dedicated component for alignment of the beam in the accelerating modules, each containing eight superconducting cavities. Large beam offsets can lead to an increa...

Beam Test Results of the BTeV Silicon Pixel Detector

The results of the BTeV silicon pixel detector beam test carried out at Fermilab in 1999-2000 are reported. The pixel detector spatial resolution has been studied as a function of track inclination, sensor bias, and readout threshold.

Highlights from the TESLA Technical Design Proposal (Invited)

The technical design report (TDR) of the TESLA superconducting linear collider with an integrated X-ray FEL facility, has been published in the spring of 2001 by an international collaboration. It includes a description of the high energy physics programme, a proposal for the detector, and the collider design relying on the technical results from the TESLA Test Facility (TTF). We review the res...

Wakefield Induced Correlated Energy Spread and Emittance Growth at TTF FEL

An electron beam with a small energy spread (0.1%) and a small normalized emittance (2 mm.mrad) is required to drive a Free Electron Laser at the TESLA Test Facility (TTF) at DESY. During FEL operations, the longitudinal and transverse wakefields which are generated by vacuum components, principally by RF cavities, bellows and valves, will induce an additional energy spread and emittance growth...
